Shuumatsu no Valkyrie Season 2 Review

Shuumatsu no Valkyrie

Shuumatsu no Valkyrie is a Japanese seinen series created by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui. This series has been adapted by Netflix since 2021 and has received quite satisfactory appreciation from the audience. I suggest you watch the previous series first because the stories are still intertwined.

This series tells the conflict between humans and gods that occurred in Valhalla. Humans must win the battle with the gods in a competition called Ragnarok to prevent extinction. The temporary score this time was held by the gods with 2 wins, while the human side only got 1 win.

In the next round, the human side is represented by Jack the Ripper, the cruelest serial killer in history, to fight against Hercules, the god who persistently upholds virtue. Hercules against Jack the Ripper, Good versus Evil, this fight is full of surprises.

Hercules in this series is described as a very persistent god, this can be seen from the way he speaks and the look in his eyes that always looks confident with every action he takes. In contrast, Jack the Ripper looks full of mystery, he is a criminal who is cunning and cruel, very contrary to the character of Hercules.

In my opinion, the fight between Jack the Ripper and Hercules is the best so far. The criminal character does provide a big surprise with the background of Ragnarok which was changed to resemble the city of London in the 1880s.

Facing the cunning enemy, the persistence in Hercules heart remained unwavering, he remained confident that he would win the battle by persuading the gods to save humanity from extinction. After all, Hercules will still be on the side of humanity.

After Hercules' fight with Jack the Ripper ends, in the next round, we will see a fight between Shiva, the god of destruction from India, against Raiden Tameemon, the strongest sumo wrestler who is called "The undefeated Rishiki".

Shiva is told as the strongest god in the plains of India who managed to reach the highest peak by defeating thousands of other gods. Meanwhile, Raiden Tameemon is the strongest sumo wrestler in human history. Throughout his career as a sumo wrestler, Raiden Tameemon has never used his full strength for fear of injuring his opponent. Be it Shiva or Raiden Tameemon, both of them are great fighters because they both reached the top.

Compared to the first season, Shuumatsu no Valkyrie this time presents a more intense, more brutal, and of course more interesting battle for you to watch. The animation quality has also improved. The progress is clear, proving that anime from Netflix is now starting to be of high quality. Even though in some scenes there are still some shortcomings, this is covered by the various advantages that stand out from this series.

SCORE

8/10

Shuumatsu no Valkyrie has so far succeeded in presenting a very interesting story when compared to other anime. Even though at the beginning of its release there were a lot of controversies behind this anime, it still doesn't change my opinion that Shuumatsu no Valkyrie is the best anime series from Netflix so far.

For those of you who like fighting genre anime, Shuumatsu no Valkyrie must be on your list.
